Fox Fund: Gataka Project

The CWWC is a community-based care-center in the Kware slums of Ongata Rongai, Kenya.  It is a non-profit organization, started by a group of local women in 1992, and registered with the Kenyan Ministry of Culture in 1994.   As the director, Mary Mukami, likes to point out, since then the children have not missed a single lunch.  The CWWC serves approximately 170 children every day.

Gataka is a community about 2 miles from Kware, and is home to about 500 orphans and vulnerable children.  The CWWC has started a small feeding center and school in Gataka serving about 70 children.  The Fox Family Grant of $7400 (augmented with $2000 in donations) is enabling us to build a sustainable kitchen for this center that will allow the CWWC to help more children in need.
